Indian Rocks Beach Florida

Florida West Coast, Indian Rocks Beach

Well I usually don’t want to give away my very favourite secret finds but I have to share how much I love Indian Rocks on the Florida West Coast. We are off in a couple of days for a 2 week March break full of swimming, sandcastles and mini golf.

Family Vacations

Mini Golf at Pirates Cove, you can feed the alligators!

The area is fantastic as it is still a local community with friendly faces and low rise condo units that sit right on the beach. For a less expensive option there are also great condos right across the street from the beach that still have a great water view of the intercostal. If you don’t want to commit to a condo unit (as most want a minimum of a one week stay), spend a night or two to explore the area. A great hotel is the Holiday Inn in Indian Rocks with a great water park and rooms with balconies right on the intercoastal, you might even be able to spot a mantra from your balcony.

The beaches are great, long white beaches that you can walk forever. Dinners are great at the local Crabby Bills for fresh crab, a fancier dinner at the Salt Rock Grill  or my very favourite family restaurant The Conch Republic. Check out all these great menu’s and be sure to get the fresh caught grouper wherever you dine!

Lighthouse Donuts

One last must visit is the Lighthouse café, you would drive right past it unless you knew it was there. The BEST donuts you have ever had and incredible lattes to go with it.

Best Ice Cream on the Florida West Coast

Well if I am going to speak of donuts I should also speak to the best ice cream possible – homemade and the perfect beach flavours. They also have fantastic sandwiches and again you would walk right by it if you did not know it was there – check out the Kooky Coconut!

So you need to visit the Florida west coast and the little communities of  Indian Rocks and Indian Shores just south of Clearwater and north of Sarasota. You can’t beat it!

See you there!
