Christmas shopping in Buffalo

Christmas shopping in Buffalo

Every year for the past 7 years I have been Christmas Shopping in Buffalo with my girlfriends. My first trip I had a 6 month old and I was nursing! BUT! I did not want to pass up on the fun of shopping so I jumped right on board. Luckily I was 7 years younger then…I sure don’t have that energy now!!

There is usually about three car loads of girls that make this Christmas Shopping in Buffalo trip. My husband tells me every year that there could be nothing worse he would rather do!! Well that makes me happy because no men allowed! This is a pretty hard core shopping excursion. We go for two nights and three full days, non stop.

Here is how it unwinds. We arrange hotels, and rides about 4 months in advance so we are organized. This year we found our hotel online at Fanatic Tourist of course:) The Hotel of choice is called the Staybridge Suites. Each room came with 2 double beds a kitchen, and living room. Perfectly cozy for four women. (we needed three suites for all of us! The Hotel also had a tasty complimentary breakfast to charge us up for the shopping days ahead.

Day 1: The excitement in the car, women going shopping for 3 days is well a lot of fun!!  Before we arrive in the USA. We pass out all the coupons we found online for the trip! Extra savings = shopping excitement!! Sales are good in Buffalo this time of year due to Black Friday and US Thanksgiving, and is why we choose this time of year to go.

We usually start off by avoiding the hotel and going straight on to shop, this year our first destination was Kohls.  This is the winning choice for the girls, who love it because Kohls has something for every member of the family. We stay at Kohls a good 5 hours and they are open late!!

Day 2: We are up early, not quite as perky, but strangely the excitement has not dwindled!   We are all excited about our purchases from the previous day and looking to do some more damage to our wallets.  We have our lists, we have our coupons and away we go.  This time it is to the Fashion Outlet Niagara on Military Road.  This mall has improved so much over the years, it has expanded and now includes stores like: Coach, Michael Kors, JCrew, Banana Republic, Kate Spade…all very exciting and the deals were grand!

We usually find a nice place to dine for dinner that night where we all catch up and share information on our deals!!  Lots of laughter, drinks and fun!

Day 3: Is the Walden Galleria Mall and the Burlington Coat Factory.  By day 3 we are slowing down…lots of money has been spent, and we are basically just knocking off the final items on the list that were hard to find.  The Walden Galleria Mall is very nice with lots of shops.  But definitely not the same deals you get at the Fashion Outlet Niagara.  But we still do somehow manage to find sales!  Then over to the Burlington Coat Factory, it is located across the road from the Galleria Mall, so its a quick ride over.  It does require lots of browsing, and patience to find that deal, but there are many great deals to be found!

The trip home….lots of sleepy ladies, adding up their bills for the boarder crossing and customs… Another great year and 90% of my Christmas shopping complete!
